Frequently asked questions about advieh Persian spice blend
What is advieh, and how is it different from other spice blends?
Advieh is one of the most widespread spice blends in Iranian cuisine, similar to how paprika gives Hungarian dishes their distinctive character, advieh does the same for Iranians. It differs from other spice blends in that alongside warm, spicy aromas, floral notes also appear: rose petals soften the stronger flavors of cardamom and cinnamon. The Valoryz blend was developed specifically for our own cultivated rice in collaboration with Zsófi Nagy, and is excellent for both savory and sweet dishes.
How and with what can I use Valoryz advieh?
For rice pudding and other rice desserts, add two teaspoons during cooking; the result is guaranteed to far surpass the simple cinnamon version. For savory rice dishes and pilaf, it is best to use it mixed into the fat when toasting the rice, so the aromas can fully develop. Valoryz white rice, brown rice, and millet all pair excellently with it.
How long can it be stored, and how should it be kept?
Store in a cool, dark place; it will retain its aroma until the expiration date indicated on the packaging. After opening, it is important to seal the jar airtight and avoid storing it near the stove, as heat and moisture accelerate the evaporation of essential oils.
